Good day Delmas Community,

On Sunday evening there was a break-in and theft on a plot in Eloff and the following saddles worth R100 000 were stolen:

- A brown bates caprilli
- A black wintec Isabella
- 2 x black kiefers
- 2 x western saddles
- A solo cut back
- 2 x trident gp saddles
- 2 x liversage endurance saddles

This is not an everyday occurrence, so please be alert if you see or hear of anyone selling expensive saddles!

The Delmas Water Purification plant( dubbed the white elephant) was finally commissioned on Friday the 2nd December 2011 by the District Mayor, Cllr SK Mashilo. The cost of the plant is R80 million.
In 2007 the water treatment plant was proposed to treat all the borehole water before it is released into the portable water networks. This plant with a treatment capacity of 15ml/day was constructed and finally opened last Friday.
The plant has a couple of unique design features. The following highlights these features:
- Raw water reservoir
- Chemical dosing
- Up flow filters
- Ozone dosing plant
- Down flow filters
- Chlorination of final effluent
- Process trains and
- Fliter backwash systems

The DA in Delmas fought long and hard for answers as to why the plant took so long and the cost so high, however the Water purification plant is now running successfully and the DA Councillors in Delmas will be watching the maintenance of this plant closely to ensure the standard of the water quality remains high !
